Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), better known by the trade name Teflon®

Teflon® is a polymer similar to polyethylene in which the hydrogen atoms have been replaced by fluorine atoms. The chemical formula of the monomer, tetrafluoroethene is CF2 = CF2.

Under the name Teflon®, a registered trademark of DuPont, multinational sells this and four other polymers like molecular structure and properties. Among them are the PFA (perfluoroalcóxido) resin and FEP (ethylene propylene flurionado) copolymer, commercially-called teflon and teflon-FEP PFA respectively.

Both FEP PFA as share the characteristic properties of PTFE, giving greater ease of handling in industrial application.
