And the UPCecoRacing, with its ecoRZ electric car, has managed to win the prize for best design and has obtained the third absolute position in energy efficiency, acceleration and business plan. In addition, it has been valued as the team with the best performance in the ratio between the number of components and the points achieved. Of the 40 students who make up the team, 11 have traveled to Melbourne and have been the only European students in this competition.
UPCecoRacing has become the best state team in the electric vehicle category this season and is ranked among the top ten in the world. In fact, he was the only Spanish and Catalan representative at the Silverstone circuit in England and won the race at the Circuit de Catalunya in Montmeló last September. EcoRZ has competed in Melbourne with other cars from 25 countries, including Japan, New Zealand, China and Australia. The ESEIAAT student team thus completes the season of competitions in which it has participated. This summer he took ecoRZ to the Hockenheim circuit in Germany.
The ecoRZ has proved to be an extraordinarily solvent and high performance electric vehicle. At the Circuit de Catalunya in Montmeló, he covered the 75m in just 3.6363 seconds, the best time achieved between vehicles with traction on the rear wheels and even exceeded many cars with four-wheel drive. In this way, it obtained the seventh position in the general classification and the first position between the Spanish equipment, as much electrical as of combustion. 'Learning by doing'UPCecoRacing and its ecoRZ car is a project framed in the INSPIRE program of ESEIAAT, awarded by the Generalitat of Catalonia with the distinction Jaume Vicens Vives teaching quality. The INSPIRE program promotes the students of this center to carry out innovative and real engineering projects, in which they apply knowledge and skills acquired in class, supervised and advised by the faculty of the School. INSPIRE was also distinguished, the 2015-2016 course, with the Award for Quality in University Teaching to the best teaching initiative, granted by the Social Council of the UPC.These kinds of competitions serve the showcase students for large international automobile companies. Many of the members of the team already qualified have been hired by some automobile company.
