AS9100 CERTIFICATION
MUELLES CROM is preparing for AS9100 certification
What is AS9100?
This is the latest version of the standard for the aerospace industry. AS9100 incorporatesall the elements of ISO 9001 & ISO-TS 16949 + plus additional elements unique to the aerospace industry.
One of the most important features of AS9100 is the resurrection of some critical elements of MIL-Q, military specifications that were set aside when the ISO 9000 appeared on the scene.
The standard was developed by a committee of executives from the shopping area and quality of the major U.S. aerospace manufacturers as a way to reduce defects in the supply chain, improve continuously the quality, achieve customer satisfaction, and reducein the number of hours spent on audits, requirements and documentation.
Instead of having to comply with many requirements and quality standards for each customer, suppliers and subcontractors in the aerospace industry for the first time now have a single aerospace standard which is accepted without exception.
In the coming years, the standard promises to become increasingly important for the large number of companies that supply parts and services to the aerospace industry.
Most major manufacturers of aircraft engines, such as aircraft engine division of GeneralElectric (GEAE), Boeing, Rolls-Royce Allison and Pratt and Whitney, are requiringcertification and AS9100.
